Guest Chef Series: Farm Brunch Cooking Class at Farm Shark

July 9 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am MDT

We are so excited to partner with The Sprouting Kitchen on this event!

What the experience includes:

Join us for ‘Farm Brunch,’ a seasonal cooking class that celebrates the season and the best meal of the weekend. The experience includes a farm tour and cooking class. You’ll be learning how to make a Sunday classic with a farm twist — eggs Benedict. Yes, you’ll be able to make hollandaise!

What’s on the menu:

Farm-inspired Benedict with poached eggs, fresh hollandaise, Farm Shark pickles, and grilled sourdough — plus a seasonal salad. We’ll also have local NM Ferments kombucha when you arrive.

Our recipes can usually be made vegetarian, gluten free, or can accommodate most dietary preferences (as long as you let us know ahead of time when you checkout).

More about Cassidy A. Tawse-Garcia from Masa Madrina Food Project

Cassidy sees food as a relationship and community-builder. As a chef, gardener, advocate, and PhD student in Geography at UNM, Cassidy engages with the world through the lens of food. Her food project, Masa Madrina, focuses on locally-sourced, seasonal cooking events. Cassidy grew up in Colorado on an organic farm, and worked in farm and food education and policy for over a decade, before starting Masa Madrina in 2020 as a mutual aid project in response to Covid. Cassidy lives in the South Valley, and can be found in her free time milking goats, planting seeds, and executing picnics in her favorite wild spaces in New Mexico.

More about Farm Shark:

Zoey and Carlos (and their son Otis) are the forces behind Farm Shark. They grow diversified vegetables on three different plots in Albuquerque’s South Valley, and focus their garlic production at Carlos’s moms farm in Polvadera, NM. They never use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides, rotate small livestock through their fields, and focus on growing food that is both nourishing and delicious!

Who is this class for?

This class is for someone who wants a unique cooking experience. You’ll learn about local farms, sustainability, nutrition, and cooking techniques. Our recipes focus on teaching you how to utilize and cook with seasonal produce. Whether you’re a beginner or more seasoned cook, everyone can learn from our classes. We always have extra staff who can help with additional instruction if needed.
